Name Changes

Name Changes

Individuals can change their names for several purposes. The most common is when getting married or divorced. Beyond this, you may have other personal or professional reasons for doing so.

The procedure is different depending on an individual’s age and the circumstances and reasons for the name change. The single most common reason why a person will want to change their name is to assume their spouse’s surname (last name) upon marriage. Notably, this type of name change does not require a formal application.

However, to legally resume using a maiden name following divorce, annulment or the death of one’s spouse requires a formal application process. Similarly, to change your entire name for other reasons, or to change a child’s name requires a legal application.

OTS Services has the experience and knowledge to assist you with your Name Change Application.
